If you’re looking for a reason to walk around Bala Lake (not that you need a reason) then you might want to consider the 2014 Bala Lake Challenge and raise funds for a worthy charity.
On 10th May help raise funds for Parkinson’s UK by joining the walks organised by Rotary Club of Bala and Penllyn (website). You can choose from a range of routes around the beautiful lake:
- guided walk (2 hours) with local expert on wildlife and history
- 8 miles – linear route with the option of returning by narrow-gauge railway
- 14 miles – circular route around Lake Bala
- 20 miles – circular route around Lake Bala including part of the Aran ridge
The walk is over moorland and hills, up to 2,000 ft high (20 miles route), you will need appropriate footwear and clothing. Ask for advice if necessary.
There is no minimum sponsorship requirement. For full details of the challenge visit this page.
